The Brentnall Connection

Above is my great grandmother Sarah Jane Brentnall (far right), and (left to right) her brothers Charles and Edwin, and sister Annie. We don't know anything else about this photograph.

Sarah Jane Brentnall was the ninth of ten children, and married Albert Wardle in 1886.

Sarah bore eight children: Harold James (born 9-Jan-1894) / Eric Charles (12-Oct-1896) / Doris Mabel (7-Mar-1898) / Marjorie (15-Apr-1900) / Grace (Feb-1902) / Bernard Leslie (29-Nov-1904) / Frederick Cyril (8-Oct-1907) / Leonard Douglas (2-Apr-1911).

Sarah's father was James Brentnall from Derby (born 7-Apr-1814). He married Mary Marriott (born 6-May-1826) from Long Clawson in Leicestershire. Their children: Charles John born 22-Oct-1856 died 31-Mar-1857 (query these dates???) Mary Ellen born 13-Jan-1853 married John Hallam Henry James born 21-Oct-1854 married Sarah from Bentham, Gloucesterhsire Charles Herbert born 22-Jan-1854 married Fanny Rhodes from Morley, West Riding John George born 21-Feb-1858 died 2-Apr-1858 Edwin Marriott born 22-Nov-1859 Anne Elizabeth born 5 Apr-1862 married William Beswick (born 6-May-1854) from Gotham in Derbyshire Charles John born 22-Jan-1864 Sarah Jane born 12-Dec-1866 Florence Parker born 20-Mar-1869 married George Wardle, Albert's younger brother That's only the start - the branch of the Brentnall tree we've got stops at Edmund Brentnall (died in 1579), and those entries that have information look like they're nearly all from Derbyshire.
